I'd like to add boost/vacuum, oil pressure, fuel pressure gauges to my 97 bird but I don't like the pillar style. Currently there's an idiot light for oil, no boost, no fuel. I don't want to hack up the original cluster. Any thoughts? Thanks, Ken Yes Tim, It's alive!!

There is only about an inch of room under the console. You could cut away the carpet and gain another inch or so. Besides you still have the other vent close to the door for air. I think after looking at your second pic it would be a good spot. I have seen kits were you can install 2 gauges and they even have tiny vents on the outside for the air to flow. Either way it looks like a spot you can see easily from a seated position.. just thought i would chime in.. Mark

If you wanted to add gauges, you can add one next to the headlight switch if you don't have the automatic headlight system. I've got a two gauge pillar with just voltage and fuel pressure (I may change this setup...). I'd suggest that if you're going to use the lower cd location (on the early years at least) that you use an alignment ring to point the gauges back up towards you. Like these from Autometer: autometer.com/cat_mountsdetail.aspx?vid=98&sid=54&mid=11&pg=0. If you're going to do the vent setup, be sure that you plug the vent behind the gauges. I had a buddy do this in his mustang, and the dust that piled up in the gauges started to look pretty bad as it got on the display and theres no way to clean it. Scott seems to be really cool to deal with and he is doing some custom gauges for me. Yes i would agree about making sure the vent is blocked as of the dust, nothing worse than doing a mod and it looking bad after a while. Make sure you post some pics to show us what you come up with.
