I finally got off my arse and did the "trunk strut" modification. Clicky clicky for the whole right up. I was hoping to get away with just one strut, but to get the lid to open, I needed two. It was a very easy project, and the hardest part was getting the struts clipped on; those little things are freaking strong!
And the final test:
Faucher has a "$25 minimum" order, so I bought two extra ball mount brackets. If anybody else is going to do this mod, I can give you a sweet deal on them.
