I recently came into possession of a s195 4.6L engine, and i am curious to know if it is possible at all to replace the head on a stock 4.6 Thunderbird engine with a the head of a s195 Mustang 4.6L ??? Is it possible?, and if for some reason not can you please tell me why not? Thank you very much for your time.

I don't know about your question but I thought I would point out you can edit your posts if needed. I am quite sure someone on the TCCOA would know for sure.

Hello,
i am sure it can be done but i doubt it would be worth the money. The 3-valve heads flow very nice, but all the hardware that would be required to install wouldn't make economic sense for the power gained. Why not just do a PI head and intake swap? I am no 4.6 expert by any means and John is right, try the tccoa or one of the many mustang sites. Mark |

If it's a two valve head, then I can't see any reason why it would not bolt on. I haven't had the chance to really play with the OHC stuff yet...good luck

Swap it over.. Only one proven swap into a T-bird done.. against the Nay-sayers on TCCoA  Just need to do some changed.. like Thorttle body, figure out a way to Activate the Variable Valve timing and a few other issues.. But i think the '96-97 EEC-IV from a T-bird/cougar should be able to run it "Turning seems to be a lost form." |
