drag wars was a blast! |

I had a great time @ drag wars in Grande Prairie. Ran three runs at the street legal drags on friday night. They had an awsome turn out. Ran a best time of
14.678@96.52 miles per hour. Not to bad for my first time at the track. Was hoping to hear from Gregg but he did not call me
back.I met a fellow from Peace River who has a beautifull red 89 SC 5 speed car. Low milage car. Never been winter driven. I am trying to get him to join the
club.

Hey Gregg .Was wondering what happened to you. Sure was fun! Was my first time and I do not think it will be the last.Hope to upgrade my diff. to shorter gears
and a traction lock that works. Might improve my 60 foot time. Hydrolic release bearing is staarting to leak so i will be pulling the trannny out in the spring
to deal with that. Check the clutch at the same time. Raced an 89 XR7 on my last run. the guy was from around G.P. His was bone stock . I missed a shift
2nd to 3rd, but still beat him.Ran 93mph to his 84mph. Also saw a guy from Peace River, who has a mint 89SC,5spd. with only 95km on it. told him he should
join the club.

Aquarob;
That is not a bad time for first time out. Were you running street tires or drag radials? What has been modified in the engine? My 95-5 speed only did 15.1 sec first time out. Now I am just under 14.0 sec hoping one day to get to 13.75 sec.

Yah! Running on a new set of Cooper Zeon 2XS.Thought i would run a bit fasterbut the barametric pressure was very low (27.31). My trac-loc is kind of pooched,
need to rebuilb but want to go down to 3:08s. The engine is suppose to have a bunch of mods but not sure what since Dirk never got back to me with the info I
asked for. Its suppost to be balanced and blueprinted Ported heads, Dr Fred cam, superchip. Has 75 ml tbody,76ml C+L Mass.#42 inj. Underdrives, intercooler
fan.94 blower. I added a ported blower case and inlet,5%od pulley, high rise top,3.5 in inlet tube, spearco intercooler(stock location).Think I need to get a
new tune. Been talking to Tomas in Calgary but will have to wait till next year.

I think you have more add-ons/changes than I do except I run with drag radials. So maybe you do need a new traction-loc and a better tune. If you have a standard, switching to a 3:08 rear end really won't improve your time if that is what your after.

Well , i am always open to suggestions to go faster.I was thinking 3:08s so as not having to shift to 4th but gaining a few hundred more rpm at the end . Dont
think that going lower gears will help times if I have to shift to 4th. Most of the guys I talked to siad they where runnnig slower that night too. I fellow
told me he ran almost a second faster on sat afternoon in warmer weather. They also sprayed the track for traction on sat.

Rob,
3.08 will help, unlike 3.27 that make you shift into 4th. if you do not mind shifting to 4th go to 3.55 gears. John
best time on internally stock engine 13.8 new time coming soon |

Ya, John. Just waiting for you to swap out yours once you change out to a six speed trans. Hopefully some time next spring if you get your project done. Still
thinking of going with 4:11? I think that 3:08s with a good traction lock and a new tune from Toma should get me into the 13s. Guy from Peace River has a new
set of 3:55s, brand new! if anyone is interested. Too low for me.
