I have passed the Britannia Mine many times and have always said It would be fun to go and check that out, and I'm pretty sure most others have had the same thought at one point or another.... Well here it is, We are going to cruise through the North Vancouver and the sea to Sky Hwy (which should be nice new pavement) Stop at the BC Museum of Mining where we will go on a guided tour of all the buildings and the underground mines, then do some gold panning...... Tour is about 45min - 1 hour long Due to the fact that tour will be a indoor and outdoor. please dress accordingly to weather conditions and a umbrella might be needed, but hopefully mother nature will be kind to us. There will be a charge for the tour of the mine, which can be payed when we enter, price list below, and I am not sure if they accept Debit or Credit, so please be prepared Now For the important info Date : May 31, 09 (Sunday) Meet place: Centennial Theatre (parking lot) 2300 Lonsdale Avenue North Vancouver, BC Time : 10:30 Cost : Regular Season Rates as of Jan 2009(GST included) Adults - $18.50 Seniors (65+) - $13.95 Students (13-18) - $13.95 Youths (6-12) - $11.95 After all the mining is done we can all go for lunch or all go our seperate ways, we can determine that as the day goes on.. And I'm driving a car that doesn't want to start (easily) anymore... As you all know.. I would typically come if i could, specially when it comes down to driving.. But this time i just couldn't make it.. Mind you wouldn't have gone into the mind, specially at $20/head.. it was JUST barely worth it at 1/2 that price less then 5 years ago, I would rather have taken Bills truck and gone up some of the Dirt roads there and find the other minds with in minutes of there "Turning seems to be a lost form." Something drastic needs to happen. We need to get our support back up, find new members and keep interest which is very hard to do. I would have been in for the Squamish meet but I had a show I was pre registered and paid. It's good to hear that the ones who attended the cruise to Britania Beach had a good time! The weather could not have been better for you. You know of course that I/We would have been there if there was any possible way. There are very few meets I/we don't attend; unfortunately, sometimes life goes on and gets in the way regardless of our good intentions. It is absolutely and totally appreciated when those who do so much for the group are able to take up the torch and carry on when necessary. You are right PJ , we need to get new things happening to create refreshed interest. How about the lurkers out there getting involved. I'm sure you have lots of good ideas to contribute. Brad as well as many of you other regulars have put so much into the success this group, it is unfortunate to see the enthusiasm get lost in the busy everyday lives of our members. I think we all seem to be super busy with our lives and probably need to make a greater attempt to keep this great bunch of people together as a group and keep this group going for at least another 10 years. The reason I decided to go anyway in the end is that we have few enough events as it is and so when something is scheduled, so far ahead of time I figure if I'm going to be a member of this club I better show up, even if it means cancelling or rescheduling something else. If we only showed up on days when we had nothing else we could be doing there would be zero turnouts for every single event. (This is not directed towards the ones that show up for almost everything its for the ones that pretty much never show up but grumble because we don't do anything.) Donna SCCoWC Webmaster

If i had a supercoupe. i would make it to alot more supercoupe events. as it stands, I drive a lowrider crown vic. so my attention is focused there for now. I am currently working on a 94 thunderbird. But its no SC. And its in no condition to see the road. maybe when i get my seats back and slap some primer on her ill roll to events. until than, ill make it to the events i can. And ill be the first to admit that i grumble about lousy turnout. Ive been doing it since things started to slip. But people need to be pushed if they wont make the effort. My personal push to come to events is the same thing that pushes me to work on my 94. I like being an active part of this group, and want to be again. So i will continue to work on my car, and attend the events i can. And as i mentioned, it wasntjust i had something else to to. i had a pre arranged show. I had paid for my spot. So i Went. If i wasnt a judge at the show, and hadnt paid ahead of time. i would have been with you guys sunday. Sorry if it sounds like im making excuses. And im not trying to point fingers. But something has to give, or this group will fall apart.
