Now the work begins. Priority one: Pass Aircare. The last time Greg took it through the car failed on 4 of 5 tests. NOx was really high, probably just bad cats. Greg couldn't remember changing them but luckily i just bought a new set for the cougar a couple of months ago. Now is there anyone in the club who can weld them in for me?
Also the Driving CO and Idle CO are really high. Interestingly in 2006-03-16 the levels were were pretty much non-existent. Then all of a sudden the levels all shot up. Greg's engine work was done at that time so maybe that had something to do with it. Greg was also unsure if he had an aftermarket chip installed at that time, currently the chip is stock.
Greg told me he changed the O2 sensors and I'm hoping it was after his last test. If not it didn't make much of a difference. But I will phone him tomorrow to make sure.
I'm going to do the following.
install my new cats Clean the MAF Any other suggestions?
In addition i need to change out the shocks, (will use my KYB's from the Cougar).
Plus put in new universal joint. It looks like this may be something I can't do myself so I may just swap out the driveshaft from my Cougar and then take the driveshaft in and have the Universal joint done by someone else.
I also want to re-wire the headlights to relays so Kevin you can expect me to ask you for some input.
Last but not least the Tach is acting up. It will be working fine and then all of a sudden it will move to 4000 rpm sit there for a while and then shoot back down to where it belongs. The "check guage light" came on but I don't know what that really means. I've got a new Cam sensor on my Cougar so I'm thinking I'll swap that out unless someone has any other thoughts?
In addition to all of that I have to change the front struts on the wife's tracker. And clean out my Mom's garage so there is a place to put all the stuff I'm going to strip out of the cougar in addition to the parts that come with the car. (look for me soon in parts for sale).
I will be a busy boy for the next couple weeks.
I would post a picture of the car outside Casa O'Sean but I don't have access to my website at the moment (stupid Telus).
