It'll take a while to sell. If you can get a 2 year old loaded Navigator for $38k, why get a SC that also would need premium fuel?

Stew,
I'm not following the comparison. I can sell a nice clean 94/5 sc for between 5-8k typically but it has to be in the right condition and have the right options etc. I rough car will be hard to move but if you know how to market the car they are not hard to sell. I typically do not sell them to the sc community either as we are a bunch of cheapskates. Which is typical of all online car communitys as most on forums like this already have the car they want. The market for any large, fuel thirsty vehicle is dying very quickly. Gas here is $1.52 for regular. With so few buying new gas guzzlers (regardless of how
nice they are), why would somebody want one that's 14 years old and needs premium fuel?

a Navigator gets like a EPA estimate of 12MPG city 18MPG highway also has like a 28gallons So... 420miles to the tank combined.. @$160 cdn to fill up and around $38 per 100miles A Supercoupe, depending on which source online gets from 17mpg city 27 MPG highway.. and has a 15 gallon fuel tank So lets say 330miles to the tank @ $112 cdn to fill up and around $34 per 100miles So in theory the Navigator would cost more to run on regular then the SC on Premium Also with my '91 5spd, toying around abit on one of my cruises.. i only used a 1/3 of a tank of gas to travel 250KMs.. I have yet to do any true calculations.. since i JUST did my first full fill up in it this past weekend.. so I'll see.. But any car that has a V6 or V8 in it is not gonna sell unless you find that one buyer that has always been looking for that said vehicle.. the used car prices for 4 cylinder cars have gone up, and the V6 and V8 cars have dropped a considerable amount

Did you know the fuel testing is done at speeds slower than the average canadian or american drives. I would be surprised if the navigator gets 12 on the
highway at 60 miles per hour ( testing is done at under 50). Most of the people I sell the nice high dollar sc's to are not buying sc's as thier
regular daily driver. I do not think fuel cost will impact purchase values on 14 year old vehicles a fraction of what it is doing to the new car market. The
people buying new and 14 year old used cars are from a different demographic. The biggest influence on the car prices is the floundering US economy. As
Products in the US have been dropping combined with the low US dollar/ high canadian dollar this has made the purchasing in the US a viable option for new
cars. The US car values have always been better than in Canada, that is why I have been importing cars since 2000. (that's where my sc is from too).
I'm pretty certain all car values in Canada have dropped even 4 cyl cars. I had a 4 cyl that consumed fuel like a 6cyl in the past. If you drive on the
highway lots your fuel economy will be better with a 6cyl if you drive at real work speeds rather than the epa speeds. The v6 accord actually gets better
mileage in real life with the 6cyl at 110( alberta hwy speed limit) than the 4cyl version. ( my partner recently took both out and the sensor in the dash
showed the difference. So depending on what type of driving you do this should influence your driving decision. Based on the 15 gallon tank and since I have
seen 800k in a tank in my sc on the highway I have seen 33mpg. This was on a 3 year old sc but my current mpx modified sc gets 600kms or 25mpg on the hwy if I
stay under 140.
and I still get 500km/tanks in the city. MY audi is also a premium fuel car but for 70/400miles it is worth while. I do not think higher fuel prices are going to change the typical gear head from owning the performance car he wants either. Regular is only at 132-136 in Edmonton ( I paid 1.40 for premium 2 days ago too) MY deisel truck value has held consistant since I bought it too. my neibour is a wholesaler and he said he could easily get 20k I paid 21,700 2 years ago. I guess it also makes a difference if you do not own your cars outright. I own all but the audi outright but that will be paid for within the month so that makes it easier to handle fuel prices when you do not have a payment looming over your head. John |

Yah no one wants a Big SUV or Truck, for the gas milage thing.. Like the EPA estimates for a Navigator i posted above are from Lincolns website.. (US one)
and with the gas prices as they are... I have a friend who sells used cars.. and he says the market for the Smaller Pickup is booming thou.. Since people want
a pickup, but either can't afford a new one, or the gas to power the bigger ones...
Okay i have to say the sources online about @17mpg city for the SC to be rather high.. HECK even EPA numbers are high typically.. Since i was getting like 18-19MPG combined.. (staying below 5psi mind you as much as possible).. But this is a 17 Year old car, with 167K on it and i swear in a dire need of a tune up
