well all the parts i'm adding are bang for the buck.Today i picked up a k&n filter charger kit,by the weekend i plan on picking up C&L mass air
flow sensor & 75mm bbk throttle body and install them all together.Car is a 97 t-Bird lx with a 4.6litre engine.Anybody with any input is encouraged to
reply,I'm alway's open to suggestions.

K&N Filter charger just replaces your stock air box and locates the Filter inside the engine compartment, not the best.. You should if you HAVE to keep it,
make up a `box' to go around it.. Look around on TCCoA? they have some pictures.. of what i'm talking about.. Also maybe on here with Pats Car.. (I may
even have a pic of it)
I would also do the Exhuast, J-mod, tranny Cooler, then Toss in a Chip into the mix for a what i'm told to be a fun car

373 gears are a good upgrade but either build up the tranny or do a j mod. a chip will help crispen up the shifts big time too. get a tune also once you get
the boltons on the car it will make sure you get everything out of the mods.

It is a modification to your 4 r70w transmission I believe it has something to do with you valve body. apparently the designer of the transmission design it to
prolong the life of your transmission. You best bet is to look on the Tccoa for more information as it is not a typical mod for an sc for some reason. When I
had my mark VIII it was recommended by the TCCoa members to inprove shifts and transmission life.

A J-mod is for all 4R70W transmissions.. No matter what it's behind..
Think of it as a Shift Kit using OE replacement Components.. And a J-mod with a Tranny cooler will Not only Make the transmission last alittle longer, And have updated Parts (specially if you move up to a '99+ 4R70W, or swap out the Valve bodies) it'll make the tranny Act more `performance' wise (IE chirp 2nd at WOT, Firmer shifts when in it a good amount BUT will have near `normal' shifts cruising around) And you do not need any Electronic Do hickys that full the ECU, and in turn HURTING the tranny more then needed.. There's a Write up in the Technical Article Sections off the Many pages, under transmissions titled "Ford OD Transmissions 101 " it's Goes into ALOT of Details on the 4R70W and how it works.. and is Written by the Guy who helped designed/program? the 4R70W.. (hence also the Name J-mod.. J as in Jerry) So you KNOW its good for the tranmission There's also two below that one article, which deal only with the J-mod itself

if I am correct you cant just get a new MAF, plug it in and expect the car to run good unless you modify your ecu programing to work with that.

But to take Full advantage of the larger MAF sensor, have a Chip Burnt, or the EEC reflashed to work with it would be the better option.. Since the power
gain that most aftermarket MAF Sensoris from leaning out your car, not the `added air flow', by so it's telling the EEC that the engine is getting LESS
air then it's truely is.. Also since the EEC uses the MAF sensor (along with Throttle position and RPM) to Calculate the load the engine has on it, it
will also Effect how the automatic transmission works too..
Should one run out and get a custom Made Chip for just the MAF sensor, No.. But if you do a `cold air' intake, MAF, T-body, Also Exhuast and a J-mod.. One may want to think of it...

i was looking on line regarding this issue, came up with nothing.looked on tccoa & there info on maf sensors is a bit confusing. But i think you are right
as it is computer related hardware. What do you think of the throttle body,I am new to the performance end of my car.
