hey guys!!!1 I was just wondering if anyone would like to share there feelings on the difference between The stock electrical adjustable struts for the 90
Supercoupe or after market stiff racing struts???? I am getting my car fixed and the stock struts are hard to come by so my mechanic is trying to talk me into
using aftermarket parts???? Not sure what to do???

if you can get them, i heard issues with either the fronts or rears are unavailable these days, i say go with Konis... it's the only way to fly... if you
can afford them

I changed my shocks a while back because my ARC ones were done. Unlike some others (Kevin can chime in here) I did not spend the extra $$ for the adjustable
Koni's. I bought some KYB GR-2's for the front and back. I have no way to compare them to a new set of ARC's because my originals would have been
shot when I bought the car but they were a definite improvement.
I'm sure Kevin could offer a valuable opinion on going sportier (read Koni adjustables) but for me and for everyday driving with the occasional rip around a corner the kyb's are ok.

I have the Tokiko replacement and I'm happy with them. I have a nice used set from a low mileage car if need.
I'll sell the set for $200.00 plus shipping. John |

I was told the Tokiko's will not line up, they have an allan key style attatchment for the adjustable shaft, my ford has the straight blade style
connection, my mechanic said that he talked to the Tokiko distributor and they said there would be to much custom insatalation. Not worth it. ???? How bad are
kybs???? I am not planning on rally driving but I am young and I do drive my cars like I own them!!! lol

I went to TCCOA forum to Section called Ford Parts Counter.
paid 187.92 for all 4 OEM parts + 30$ shipping to the boarder +20$ duties you should go check if they might carry parts you need.  1997 Thunderbird LX Sport 281ci v8 SCT Tuned by Lonnie |

Tokico's have an exact replacement for the supercoupe you are welcome to come by and look at them on my car.
Egorka, As you sure those are factory supercoupe or just regular T-Bird. I have search for new sets before for the SC and they are considerably more costly for OEM. I believe the originals were made by Tokico for Ford. John |

The KYB's aren't bad. They are not soft but not really sport stiff either. It is hard to describe. They are a popular replacement on SCCOA which is why
I bought them. The price was less than half the Koni's that Kevin has. Of course a smart man would have gone for a spin with Kevin in his car to see what
the Koni's were like. (not that I had the spare $$ mind you).
I replaced them myself in a lazy 4 beer afternoon.

Yah at that price those a Non adjustable ones.. and that'll be the price of ONE front if you can still get them anymore..
I believe the OE adjustable ones are not aviable anymore.. NOW if you can get them.. a Sport front Shock ('96/7 T-bird/cougar with the `sport' package (and ford seems to be the only place you can get them) and '99? Cobra Rears have been told to be a good all round setup between ride and Handling.. BUT they do do away with the Adjustable part... Tokico does have OE replacement for the adjustable suspension on these cars... Still offered? i do not know, and personally don't really care, since i've never lighted them (Too `floaty' in firm, BUT if you start working them they seems to `stiffen' up.. (Shrug) ) Gave away my set like years ago..
Koni's.. yes the adjustablity is nice.. Worth it? Shure if you care about the fine tuning of the stock (Saddly Only rebound Adjustment, Wish they had Compression adjustment too, even Half that of the rebound) Also no idea what they'll be like with stock springs.. If you do not car for adjustablity... Go with the Sport fronts, and '99 or so Cobra rears (Look on TCCoA.com, there's part numbers) thinking of it for my '96.. Since the fronts are dieing .. (f'n money pit)
