Hey use the CORRECT spelling.. it's `check gage' light

that Light will only come on if there's low oil pressure, low fuel, or Coolant temperature too high.. Don't remember what else??

Well the Tach replacement isn't THAT hard, maybe 30 minutes at the most?? With spare Tach in hand....

Remove trim (the black piece) around instrument cluster, 2 screws,...

The light that came on was "Check Guage" Not the check engine light. It is located in the tach face itself. I will be pulling codes this weekend to see what's there.

Since the Cougar's front end bushings are shot and the body is so horrible It will be a donor car for this one. Especially all the new parts I just put on it.

Sean i have lots of tachs in clusters for $10.00 if you want to leave the cougar alone. I would pick up a code reader for 40.00 from ct and check codes. it should tell you if the oxygen sensors are ok and why the engine light is on. Congrats on the purchase Greg's tbird was a good deal I have been avoiding the for sale section lately as I just did not need number 48 yet.

"Tach itself may be the issue.. my '91's tach did odd things. like nothing untill you got the engine up 'till like 3,000rpms, or it would just stay at 1000-1200 rpms ('till 3,000rpm) and so forth.. Remember not all tachs are the same in the MN12 line up You'll need one from a Distributorless ignition car.."

I will change out the cam sensor asap. If I have to I can put my tach from the cougar tn though I don't really want to take apart the dash as it...

High Nox and CO's would lead me to believe bad Cats..

If your gonna remove the driveshaft, i would have it checked and Balanced as a complete assembly.. Makes bolting it in Sooooooo much easier.. specially if you are swapping one shaft for another

New 'Bird is home. Thanks to Greg for allowing me to buy his car!

Now the work begins. Priority one: Pass Aircare. The last time Greg took it through the car failed on 4 of 5 tests. NOx was really high, probably just bad cats. Greg couldn't remember changing them but luckily i just bought a new set for the cougar a couple of months ago. Now is there anyone in the club who can weld them in for me?
